DETROIT VIDEO JOURNALISM BOOTCAMP: MASTERING PITCHES, RATES, AND CLIENTS

Join FINAL GIRLS for a half-day boot camp on the fundamentals of turning your video journalism skills into a viable profession. Using case studies and a hands-on approach, we will uncover the process of getting work in both journalism and corporate doc-style or branded content from beginning to end.

We will go over relationship building with clients, pitching, budgeting and contract drafting, which are topics often left in the dark when discussing the craft of storytelling. We will also discuss freelancing versus full-time jobs. 

Led by Lea Khayata of Brooklyn-based full Pushpin Films, this workshop will include presentations and Q&As with filmmaker, , Andrea Claire MorningstarEden Villarba-Sabolboro, co-owner of Reel Clever Films LLCand Kathy Kieliszewski, Photo and Video Director, Detroit Free Press. The panel will be moderated by Nina Misuraca Ignaczak, managing editor of Metromode Media. This event is in partnership with Freep Film Festival and the Planet Ant Training Center. Made possible with support from The Knight Foundation.
